Slow Stitching Sunday

I am making some good progress on my "Accidental Quilt".
I have finished quilting all the lines in the triangle blocks and am working my way around the outside of the quilt. Soon it will be binding time and I have picked out the perfect fabric! I am trying not to rush and enjoy the process... I remind myself that the anticipation is the best part! I might actually finish the hand quilting today depending on how much stitching time I get! So exciting!
I basted a scrap piece of fabric around the outside of the quilt to give me more fabric to put in the hoop (a great suggestion from Slow Sunday Stitching comments) and it is really helping me to get better stitches. I took a photo of my threads so I can remember what I used on this quilt. I like this thread and bought it on sale at Joann's in the US. Do you have the same bad habit as I do of sticking pins into the top of the spool?
Hope you are able to enjoy some relaxing hand stitching today... treat yourself!
We would love to see what you are hand stitching this week. You can share your project below linking to your blogpost or Flickr page.

Love your quilting pattern for this one. Simple and effective.

I love finishes more than starting a new quilt. I wish I had not put off getting the fabric for the binding of Christmas Journey, waiting is hard to do. I did decide it is a great time to get the next quilt ready to stitch and make progress on others projects that I haven't worked on in awhile. I used to stick pins in spools until I made several small pincushions, so much easier on the fingers.

You're up early today, stitching away.

I'll be back later ... I'll wrap up my weekend with some slow stitching. ;-) I certainly do stick my threaded needles into the top of the spool!! After enough time, it gets hard to find enough space to pop another needle into the top. ;-) I ordered a border quilt several months back ... I'll be anxious to see how much it helps when I finally get to the edges of my storm at sea.

Trying not to rush when we get so close to finishing a quilt can really hard!

So fun to watch the progress on your quilt. I tend to put needles in the top of the spools too. Then they get stuck in there. Hope you had a good weekend.

This reminds me that I should get off the computer and go down and finish that last side of the quilt I am binding.

Wow! You are really going to town on that hand-quilting, aren't you? Looks like some really nice stitching too :*) What a lovely quilt - you are going to enjoy it when you are done!

Yep, I'm really bad about sticking that needle in the top of the thread, especially if no pin cushion is readily at hand LOL!!!

i know what you mean about savoring the moments of stitching time without worrying about the next steps . . . today i worked on some fabric postcards with primitive houses on them and i just couldn't stop once i got started . . . not even to take a photo and share on slow sunday stitching. i think i got lost in every stitch that i took~!

your quilt is beautiful and i'm looking forward to when you show us the whole thing. but don't hurry. take your time and enjoy every second of the process.

So fun to link up--thanks for keeping up with it! Great work on your accidental quilt. Some day maybe it will 'accidentally' get finished.:)

I so agree hand stitching is relaxing, more time consuming of course but I think more rewarding when finished

I love this quilt so much... you must enjoy every stitch as you admire those pretty triangles! I know I love seeing fabrics up close again while I'm walking foot quilting

I love how efficient slow stitching can be: excess worry energy is transformed into art and creating the art transforms the worrier! May you always be able find a quiet time and place for stitching. Thank you for your blog.

I've been TOO busy lately to hand quilt, and seeing your beautiful work MAKES ME MISS IT EVEN MORE!!! Your HST quilt is so nice...just my favorite like of thing to hand quilt (I usually don't mark those kinds of quilts...I just let the quilting therapy wash right over me...ahhhhhh!). Thanks for the virtual warm, quilty feelings! Teresa :o)
