Scrap Squad Strips

Lucy is getting a good workout this week. She's a 1953 long bed 301 Singer and she still sews like a dream.

I'm sewing a big pile of strips together in various combinations for my next scrap squad quilt. Almost all the sets are prepared for the first step. The next step will be cross cutting a bazillion slices.

Love those colors! In Tx, I sew on a 63 Kenmore. The just don't make machines like they used to! My workhorse here in NS is a 73 Kenmore and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Can't wait to see your finish!

Oooh, love those colors! They are similar to a raw edge applique quilt that I am working on. I should dig it back out of the UFO pile and get it put together ;)

Hi Kathy, I see you are still keeping those hands busy. Remember our "race" to see who would finish Journey of a Quilter first? I completed all the blocks and have them now in a flimsy but still need to quilt it. I just started a new blog and I posted about two of my long standing UFOs and I still have to post about that one. I need to get it finished! I've missed blogging and decided to just do it. I lost my sense of safety after my older blog got hijacked. Anyway, I'm making the rounds with blogs I used to follow and leaving comments to say hello.

That is a favorite color combo--just so peaceful and soothing. Very curious to see what you can make with a bazillion slices of those sets. : )

I wish I still had my old Singer, but yours looks amazing. It's kind of scary that your vintage machine is as old as I am, which makes me an antique. LOL

Awesome machine and I love all the scrappy quilts you have been making.

Love those old Singers. I have a 1919 model 66, a 1922 model 99, 1946 Featherweight 221, and a 1949 model 201. Guess I really, really like those old Singers. Thanks for your comment on my blog, Lakeshore Stitches. Comments make my day.

Oh Lucy, Lucy - how lovely she is! Do you have more than one machine out at a time Kathy and keep a particular project to work on it? I'm finding that I have one project beside my hand cranked singer and another one (or two!) beside the modern machine I'm currently using. It's great not to have to put everything away to work on something else. This quilt looks like it's going to be a really bright and fresh one. Looking forward to seeing how it develops :)

I don't do well with sewing strip sets together. I tend to wander a bit on long pieces.
